Whitney: A Visual Experience
I felt words couldn’t actually explain what this gig was so… here are drawings and collages of a day filled with luck, fear and hope. #notmypresident.
I saw Whitney at Vodafone Paredes de Coura this summer… but something was missing and it was, definitely, not their fault. The sparkle I found when I first listened to Light Upon The Lake was taken over by a not very excited crowd and sound issues that turned that festival a weird experience. But I decided to give them a second try, three months later, at Gorilla, Manchester. The gig (and their UK tour) was sold-out so I obviously wanted to stay closer as possible as I predicted what was going happen for the next two hours. Something I didn’t expect was to meet Esmée. Esmée, was right next to me in the front row, drawing what she was watching in the most hypnotising way. So, for this review, I felt words couldn’t actually explain what this gig was. A few e-mails later, Esmée accepted the challenge and this is our visual experience of Whitney gig in Manchester: drawings and collages of a day filled with luck, fear and hope. #notmypresident.
